Patrick Herb was appointed Bass Trombonist of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra in September of 2007 and has held the same position with the Albany Symphony Orchestra since August of 2007.

Patrick holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from Boise State University and a master’s degree in music performance from Manhattan School of Music. Patrick has performed with The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, The Cleveland Orchestra, The New York Philharmonic, and has worked with Ricardo Muti, Lorin Maazel, Franz Welser-Möst and James Levine. He performed for Pope Benedict XVI on his visit to New York City in April of 2008. Patrick made his professional solo debut in March of 2009 when he performed Christopher Brubeck’s Concerto for Bass Trombone and Orchestra with the Hartford Symphony and Edward Cumming. In 2006 Joseph Alessi, Principal Trombonist of the New York Philharmonic, invited Patrick to participate in a trombone seminar in Fossano, Italy. Patrick’s principal teachers include David Mathie, James Markey, Massimo La Rosa and his mentors Joseph Alessi and Stephen Norrell.

In the summers Patrick can be found with his wife Tiffany in Idaho hiking the Sawtooth Mountains or sailing on Cascade Lake.
