Each of the undergraduate degrees offered prepares a student to pursue a career in music or to enter graduate school.
Bachelor of Music
The Bachelor of Music degree is considered the professional degree in the Department of Music. Options available in this degree are:
- Performance- provides a strong background in repertoire and prepares for a professional career at the university level.
- Music Education – prepares for a career in public, private, or charter school music teaching. Options are available for degree-seeking students or students already in possession of a music degree but who desire teaching certification.
- Music Composition – for talented students who wish to actively create in a variety of music idioms.
Bachelor of Arts
The Bachelor of Arts degree provides a broad Liberal Arts background and offers two primary areas of emphasis:
- Music/Business – provides a student with a music degree and a basic business background.
- Music/General – a basic knowledge of music and a broad liberal arts background with electives available to allow exploration of other areas of interest.
