Opera Theatre (MUS 115, 315 or 515) meets three times per week as listed in the Boise State Class Schedule. Enrollment in this class is by audition only and/or instructor permission. Students must have substantial vocal training in order to meet the requirements for this course.
The Opera Theatre program at Boise State works closely with the Boise State University Theatre Arts Department on all fully staged productions. Our most recent collaboration was Gilbert and Sullivan’s Iolanthe.
In semesters in which there is not a full production, students in the class perform in opera excerpts in order to practice and develop the set of skills required on the operatic stage.
Many voice students at Boise State are also members of the Opera Idaho Resident Company. Open to student, vocational and professional singers, the Resident Company offers abundant opportunities for education and professional development. Opera Theatre students who are members of the Resident Company may receive Opera Theatre course credit for participation in Opera Idaho productions.
