Dee Sienknecht joined Boise State University as Director of Vocal Jazz in 2017.  Dee comes to us with many years of experience as an educator in choral music.  As a Boise State alumnus, she earned her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance here in 1990 and went on to earn a Master of Music degree at Eastern Washington University in Vocal Performance in 1995.  Upon graduation, Ms. Sienknecht started her teaching career at Texas A&M University-Kingsville from 1995-1998 as Director of Choral Activities, as well as teaching a full studio of voice students.  After earning her teaching credential, she has taught at the high school and middle school in public and private schools around the Treasure Valley as well as private voice and piano students.  Her high school jazz choirs have won several regional jazz festivals, such as the Newport Jazz Festival and Columbia Basin College Festival, and she currently performs with Essential Jazz – a 15-singer group with a 5-member combo made up primarily of local music teachers.
