Wendy Hartman

wendyAdjunct Professor of Music, Wendy Hartman received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Boise State University in Boise, Idaho and hew Master of Music Education degree from West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia.

After 35 years of dedication, Ms. Hartman retired from her position as Orchestra Director at Boise High School and North Junior High School in 2014. While there Ms. Hartman was recognized with several awards including: Idaho District III Orchestra Director of the Year, Idaho District III Music Educator of the Year and Idaho Music Educator of the Year. In 2007, Boise Mayor David Bieter awarded Wendy and her husband Phil the Mayors Award for Excellence in the Arts. Ms. Hartman has previously served as director of the Elementary Honor Orchestra, the Junior High Honor Orchestra, as well as organizing chair for the Idaho All-State Orchestra and as president of the Idaho String Teachers Association. In 2014 Wendy was a finalist for the Stephen Sondheim Inspirational Teacher of the Year Award and, received the Boise State University Distinguished Alumni Award in recognition of her many achievements.

In addition to her teaching schedule, Wendy was a cellist in the Boise Philharmonic Orchestra from 1975-2003, and is currently a member of the Syringa String Quartet. Wendy and her husband Phil have two children, Angela and Ryan, who are both teachers in the Meridian School District as well as Boise State University graduates. Their son-in-law, Rodney Zuroeveste, is an adjunct faculty member in the music department at Boise State University.
